Fact:
|
A
fox makes acrobatic leaps and midair turns to snap up grasshoppers and
flying termites; catches lizards, gerbils, and birds with a sudden dash;
and pounces on mice in the usual candid manner. Using bat ears
like twin-dish antennae, it detects faint stirrings and pinpoints
position of dung beetle larvae 6 in. to a foot (15-30 cm) underground,
then quickly digs them out through the hardest soil.
