The Wildebeest is the dominant plains antelope in the acacia savannas of eastern and southern Africa.  The wildebeest has a unique reproduction solution in which 90% of the calves are produced during a 3 week peak in the early rainy season.  This well noted mating season is timed with the migration off the Serengeti plains and involves 250,000 bulls servicing 750,00 cows in a 3 week period.
