Cool Fact:

By rights the wild dog should be a very successful species, as it is the most successful hunter of the large African mammals.  Yet, this fearless animal is nearly extinct.   Wild Dogs catch 85% of the animals they actually chase.   Their top speed of 40 mph is impressive, but endurance is their specialty.   The dogs can run 35 mph for at least 2 miles, and 30 mph for over 3 miles.  Most antelopes are exhausted after a chase of 1-2 miles.

"The Dismemberment Plan"  Their kills are also impressive.   The first dog grabs a hind leg of the prey and throws the quarry to the ground.   Within a minute it is completely dismembered as other dogs grab hold and yank in opposite directions.
